How We Started
The Ardler Village Trust was established by a partnership that includes local residents, a registered social landlord and the local authority.
What We Do
We aim to deliver a range of community development activities under the main themes of economic, social and physical development within the area of Ardler Village, Dundee. Each of themes have a subgroup which includes residents, partners and agencies involved in Ardler, and have identified priority projects through workshops and planning meetings that form the basis of the Trust’s initial programme of work. To date we have organised and supported: • Ardler in Bloom project • Ardler Environment Group which has developed and maintains a Community Garden, co-ordinates litter picking, and bulb planting and works closely with the Urban Ranger Service. The group has also been instrumental in bringing many accolades to the area, including The Beautiful Scotland Urban Regeneration and Community awards in 2005, 2007 and 2009, and have received awards through the Dundee Partnership Environment Award in 2006 and the Queen Golden Jubilee Award in 2007. • Ardler Communications Group • Ardler Annual Fun Day committee. More recently we opened the Ardler Village Charity Shop to generate a financial surplus for the AVT’s charitable activities and to provide local residents with a source of affordable clothing, household goods and leisure goods. We work in partnership with other groups to sell larger goods such as bikes, carpets and furniture.
Our Future Plans
We are now looking at different options for acquiring property from which we can generate a sustainable income stream, either through rents or the delivery of services directly by the Trust.
