How We Started

Dalbeattie Community Initiative was initially formed in September 1997 in response to a number of local Business closures and the subsequent negative impact on the local economy and the community.

The Initiative was originally set up as a constituted voluntary group, however, due to increased financial responsibilities became a company limited by guarantee in 2002. This in turn limited the liability of every individual committee member. The changes continued throughout 2002 when charitable status was granted by the Inland Revenue, which allowed the Initiative to access additional funding sources.
