Area of Operation:
Dumbarton Road Corridor - Yoker Scotstoun & Whiteinch, Glasgow
Greater Glasgow & Clyde Valley
How We Started
The Dumbarton Road Corridor Environment Trust (DRCET) was established to implement and manage the Yoker, Scotstoun & Whiteinch Environmental Vision, which identified a range of policies, proposals and management initiatives intended to bring about substantial change in the quality of life in the area.
What We Do
DRCET deliver community led sustainable regeneration in the West of Glasgow. Current projects include:
De'ils On Wheels cycling and recycling project - we deliver cycling skills, cycle repairs and maintenance and bike reuse to local residents
Food waste processing - we deliver food waste collections at the Kingsway Court High rise flats and at Anniesland College, where all the waste is processed on site using a Rocket in-vessel composter. The compost produced is then used by the College's horticulture department
Environmental education - we work with local primary schools to deliver a range of environmental education services which compliment the curriculum and help schools achieve Eco-schools status
Heart of Scotstoun Community Centre - over the past 5 years we have managed the construction of the Heart of Scotstoun Community Centre which is owned and run by the community for the community
In order to deliver our services we work in partnership with a wide range of organisations in the local area.
