How We Started
Pollok Credit Union was set up in 1993 as a non-profit-making financial co-operative run by its members. It was established to address the issues of poverty and financial exclusion faced by people living in the Pollok neighbourhood of south west Glasgow. In 2002 the Credit Union set up the Greater Pollok Enterprise Trust as a sister company as a vehicle to manage other commercial trading operations
What We Do
In 2007 the Trust established a local nursery providing affordable childcare to children aged 0-5yrs and in 2008 took over the running of the local post office. The Trust operates from a unit in the Silverburn Shopping Centre in Glasgow which is also home to the Credit Union and the Post Office. In 2010 responsibility for the two financial support service projects was transferred back to the credit union.
