How We Started

Stranraer Millennium Centre Community Trust (SMCCT) was established in 1998 by the Chamber of Commerce which had identified an urgent need to improve social welfare, provide facilities for youth and other community groups, and promote the area.

What We Do

SMCCT bought a former supermarket building to be a centre for local groups. We have an open door policy and the majority of the projects and events are led by its users. They cover:
• Training for unemployed people (e.g. DIY skills, ICT);
• musical tuition and gigs;
• healthy eating;
• a market;
• boxing gym, training and matches;
• weddings, birthday parties, etc
• bingo nights.

SMCCT has also:
• recently has secured a contract to provide New Deal placements;
• examined the feasibility of providing office space to other voluntary and community organisations and more flexible hall space for hire;
• begun work on setting up a ICT recycling service

Our Assets

  • Centre building, value approximately £400,000
