How We Started

Stratherrick and Foyers Community Trust was set up to receive and then distribute and utilise the community benefit funds promised from developers of renewable energy projects in our area.  These projects include SSE's hydro scheme at Glendoe and the windfarms at Dunmaglass and Corriegarth.

Our area includes the following settlements around South Loch Ness -  Foyers, Errogie, Gorthleck, Whitebridge, Inverfarigaig, Abersky and Torness.

What We Do

Stratherrick and Foyers Community Trust is a member-led organisation with an Board of Directors elected from the local membership of almost 200 of the residents.  Our volunteer directors provide sound governance of the funds received from commercial renewable energy companies and allocate the funds to projects through a transparent grants system.

This is our Vision Statement

“We will act to enhance the quality of lives of people by engaging with the issues that matter to the community and by supporting people, at a sustainable level (i.e. with finance, personal time, specific knowledge etc.), to help people make things happen.”

Our Assets

  • Our assets are the agreements which provide an income for community benefit from ech of the major hydro and windfarm projects

Our Future Plans

The Trust is primarily about supporting local projects with practical help and funding.  Each project we support should life for members of the community in Stratherrick and Foyers.

Our directors, members and residents are the source of project proposals to address issues where there is is disadvantage to our residents or to stimulate activity which meets the Trust's stated aims and objectives.  By working with local community organisations and public bodies, the Trust seeks to maximise the positive effect of the funds which flow from the renewable energy projects in our area, without substituting for state provision of services.
