How We Started

The Trust was established in May 1997 following extensive community consultation to identify the community’s vision for the future and the main issues to be tackled. It evolved from a very active Community Council.

What We Do

Since its inception the Trust has successfully implemented a programme of work based on identified community priorities. This has included:
• Provision of low cost rental housing for local residents
• Development of community woodlands in both villages
• Creation of a playpark
• Establishment of a rolling calendar of social events
Following a strategy review and new rounds of community consultation priorities for the coming three years have been identified as: local health services and facilities; making the most of the community woodlands and local environment; affordable housing; and community activities and learning.

Our Assets

  • Own: 4 ex-railway houses; 10 hectares of woodland
  • Manage: 95 hectares of woodland
