Training & Events

A key objective of DTA Scotland is to support our members become stronger, more enterprising and more sustainable, and a central element within this is the provision of a wide and flexible range of learning and development opportunities. This includes an annual programme of free training events, our annual conference, study visits to successful development trusts, visits between developmental trusts, networking meetings and our own leadership course.

We recognise that there is an incredible wealth of knowledge and experience within development trusts throughout Scotland and our learning and development opportunities are structured to maximise the benefit from this and promote peer learning.

Troubleshooting for Boards - Inverness

Mon, 12 May 2014 - 10:30 - 14:45

Location: Eden Court Theatre, Inverness

It is a big ask of already busy people to serve as a volunteer board member for a development trust, particularly as the trust matures and its activities multiply and become more complex - often at the same time as the pool of people prepared to volunteer shrinks. This workshop, led by EVH looks at the characteristics of successful volunteer boards, examines the roles of board members and office bearers, highlight where things can and do go wrong and suggest how you can identify when things may start to go awry, and how to resolve the most common problems.
