Stonehaven Town Partnership - North East (Aberdeen & Grampian)

Established 2007

We are a partnership of over 50 of the town’s community and business organisations, together with the Community Council and the Local Authority. STP has general objectives including developing an overall strategy for the town, prioritising and taking forward key projects and improving the quality of life within the town.

For much of its initial 3 years the Partnership was pre-occupied with safeguarding and taking forward the development of the old Stonehaven Town Hall. It secured £181k of Town Centre Regeneration Funding for remedial works to make the building fully weather-tight, and this initiative eventually led to the establishment of a separate Stonehaven Town Hall Trust that is taking the Town Hall on from the Council on a long term lease. STP is in dialogue with the Council regarding the transfer to the community of further Local Authority assets, including the town’s caravan park, and the former Tolbooth Museum - the town’s oldest building; both of which would transfer directly to STP. The Partnership is also currently progressing ideas for a harbour conference centre, and is in discussions regarding the possibility of establishing a Business Improvement District.
